Crossed by the Mondego River, Coimbra is the oldest university city in Portugal. Its student character makes it a city where there is an almost permanent festive atmosphere, conducive to encounters, sharing and cultural discoveries. Its university, founded in the 12th century, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the same way as its old town "Alta" and its famous Rua da Sofia.

We had a wonderful dinner at a family run place with Michelin Star in the nearest town Candahele . We also adored the day visiting Bussaco and walking there with love much on the terrace at the Palace Hotel . Plan the visit to Cimbra more than we arrived too late on the day to get a booking g to see the library ! Will need to return as this is a charming town.
