Located at the Conrad Resort on Conrad Rangali island in the Maldives, Ithaa is the first underwater restaurant to have opened in the world. It Is 5 metres below sea level, and is accessed by a staircase. Customers dining Ithaa will be amazed by the panoramic views of the coral gardens and the marine wildlife of the Indian Ocean as the entire walls and ceiling are transparent. The menu is typically Maldivian with western touch to add originality to the 7 course dinner it serves. Classic dishes include fresh lobster and crab which guarantee an explosion of flavours with every bite. Ithaa can also be booked for private dining, weddings and special occasions.

2. Ultraviolet, Shanghai, China
It would be considered an achievement to obtain a table to dine at this extremely select restaurant in Shanghai which only welcomes 10 guests at a time. It is the first restaurant in the world to have adopted the concept of ‘experiential eatery’ which was created by French chef Paul Pairet who took 15 years to plan it before opening Ultraviolet in 2012. When one walks in, the place seems very boring and simple with only tables and chairs in the middle of a white-walled room. However, when the meal begins, customers are transported into another country with technology which virtually simulates scenes such as a sunny day in the French countryside. To add authenticity to the experience, scents, sounds and lights are used in order to make one forget they are in a restaurant in Shanghai, a truly magical experience!

3. Bird’s nest restaurant, Thailand
Located in Soneva Kiri Eco Resort in Thailand, the Bird’s Nest is a unique restaurant which offers private and intimate dining inside giant birds nest which are 5 meters above the ground. 4. Grotta Palazzese, Polignano a Mare, Italy
This superb restaurant is located in a fishing village in Apulia, in the south of Italy. It is unique as it is inside a beautiful limestone cave facing the Adriatic Sea.
