A large number of travellers looking for an idyllic setting on the Adriatic Sea with a mild climate all year round come to Croatia. Discover the 5 reasons that will make Croatia your next trip!
The country is full of historical wonders with over 2000 years of history. It has been under Roman, Greek, Slavic, Venetian and Austro-Hungarian occupation, shaping its culture over time. Therefore you will find many museums and ancient buildings. Don't miss the fabulous city of Dubrovnik with its ramparts, the palace of Emperor Diocletian in Split or the Roman amphitheatre in Pula. Zagreb, the country's capital, is also a place steeped in history, with St. Mark's Square, Zagreb Cathedral and St. Catherine's Church.
Croatia has an incredible and unspoilt nature. If you are a hiking enthusiast, this is a great way to discover the most beautiful landscapes. Take a walk, for example, from the island of Brac to Vidova Gora or from Omis to the fortress of Starigrad. You can also visit the country's many national parks, including Plitvice National Park, one of Europe's natural wonders.
3. Relax on heavenly beaches
No need to go to the Caribbean to find paradise beaches with turquoise water. The best beaches in Croatia are in Dalmatia, with small white pebbles and transparent water, with a few small coves. You won't find many sandy beaches but you can go exploring the sea bed by snorkelling with your friends and family.
You will surely feel like you've been there before, and that's no coincidence! This beautiful country has been the backdrop for many films and series, including Game of Thrones! Indeed, you will find the King's Port in Dubrovnik, the island of Lokrum, Trsteno, Diocletian's palace or the fortress of Klis.
5. Taste the specialities
Croatia is not very well known for its gastronomy compared to its European neighbours such as Greece or Italy, yet it offers many very appetizing specialities! In addition to its few Michelin-starred restaurants, you will be able to taste many dishes including seafood, or meat such as peka or pasticada. If you are a wine lover, you can visit many vineyards and taste some very good wines, especially on the Peljesac peninsula.
