Walking in the region is the best way to discover the natural heritage of the Luberon. There are easy hikes to do with your family, others a little more difficult, short or long, it's up to you to choose the option that best suits you. An amazing open-air spectacle, this former ochre quarry is a must-see site in the Luberon. The most popular circuit is the Sahara but there are many easy access paths in the park marked out by the French Federation of Pedestrian Walking or the Colorado Rustrel Association. If you don't want to get lost in this desert, there are also guided tours. Chemin des parcs offers a 4 hours loop starting from Rustrel- find the map on their website. The most emblematic landscapes of the site are the white desert, a long stretch of white sand with pine trees and the fairy chimneys, large stone columns.
Gordes, a perched village with its castle, its church and its Resistance past. Crossing a path in memory of the resistance fighters of Gordes as well as historical monuments, this itinerary will appeal to history lovers. Signposted by GR® and GRP® markers, let yourself be transported into the maquis of Gordes. During this hike you will discover the village of the bories, a hamlet of dry stone houses, a jewel of the Luberon heritage not to be missed.
The itinerary ends with a visit to the Sénanque abbey, before heading back to the Gordes castle, the starting point of the hike.
Cedar path - Bonnieux

This hike in the cedar forest of the Petit Luberon in Bonnieux is ideal for children. Planted in the 1860s, the cedars are resistant to the dry climate and fires of the region. Today the cedar forest is a pleasant family outing. The trail goes through the heart of the forest and features 5 different areas, where you will learn more about these trees.
The trail is also accessible to wheelchairs and has been awarded the Tourism Handicap label.
Between Garrigue and Durance - Mérindol

Distance: A loop of 4,1 km
The garrigue of Mérindol is a sensitive natural space bordered by water points. Put on your shoes and explore the Mediterranean biodiversity. As you walk you will see an incredible variety of birds, lizards, turtles, eagles... Don't hesitate to bring your binoculars! The waters and rivers that cross the area attract many birds. The hike, starts and finishes at the parking lot of the garrigue of Mérindol. You can use the map available on the Chemin des Parcs website, mentioned in the introduction.
The rocks of Mourres - Forcalquier

Distance: A loop of 6,4 km
The route of the rocks of the Mourres is marked out and contains informative panels. Formed 25 million years ago, these geological curiosities are of different shapes. Unlike the other rocks whose existence is a hazardous process, they are the result of a double sedimentation construction. During this easy hike you will discover not only this phenomenon but also the varied fauna and flora and the blue mountains of the Luberon. You will even pass by a river, a rare commodity in the region!
