Do you want to escape for a unique experience focused on your well-being? Do you want to recharge your batteries beyond relaxing by the pool? Several destinations are excellent getaways and the opportunity to refocus on yourself, and this is particularly the case in India, a country with an incredible cultural wealth. We, therefore, set off in search of the characteristics of this country that make it a reference destination for a spiritual journey.
The demand for travel, retreats and spiritual training courses is constantly increasing and this is not surprising in view of our society. Indeed, daily stress, fear of time passing and questioning are omnipresent in many minds. The quest for happiness and self-fulfilment is also becoming more and more important in people's aspirations, who see the spiritual journey as a unique opportunity to take the time to take stock of themselves and rediscover themselves.
This is why India is the destination of choice. Indeed, unlike Western societies, this country, like many other Asian countries, has a culture based on sharing, the importance of the well-being of the community, but also inner peace. India is notably the cradle of yoga, the activity par excellence of self-reflection. Many options will be offered to you in this country to work on your spirituality, be it retreats of a few weeks, cures, half-day or hourly meditations. Indeed, depending on your desires and the region in which you decide to set down your luggage, you will find different proposals, each one more enriching than the other. The south of India in the province of Kerala offers Ayurvedic stays that allow you to work on body, soul and spirit at the same time. In the north of the country, Rishikesh is known to be the world capital of yoga practice where you can practice yoga and meditation in an ashram. A small town in Karnataka called Mysore is also famous for Ashtanga yoga where its founder established a specialized institute. We are therefore sure that you will find the right method for you during your stay in India!
A multitude of mystical sites
India is at the origin of several religions including Buddhism and Hinduism which have transmitted to India strong values and a serene way of life centred on inner peace. You will thus discover places of worship inviting to meditation and veneration of the deities. Indeed, beyond your spiritual journey, we advise you to take the time to discover the jewels of the country and the source of inspiration of this peaceful society. India's heritage is rich in monuments and we strongly recommend that you visit as many of them as possible, as their beauty is breathtaking. You will find for example the Golden Temple in Punjab, a true architectural marvel this time of the Sikh religion, but also the Temple of Khajuraho in Pradesh for its superb facades. Finally, among the most beautiful temples, the Meenakshi Temple in the city of Tamil Nadu is not to be missed. Built in the honour of the goddess Meenakshi and Shiva, the monument is completely covered with multicoloured statuettes, enough to take your eyes away!
The ideal time for you to travel to India bis between October and March to enjoy a less humid climate for your trip, but also to avoid the crowds of tourists in the summer. India promises you a resourcing journey rich in discoveries, both spiritually and thanks to its warm population, its diverse landscapes and its succulent gastronomy. Enough to come back transformed!
