Galle

Udawalawe National Park

Get ready to take your camera, this is especially for the animal lovers. In this immense park you can observe buffalos, sambars, crocodiles and birds, but especially elephants!

You will discover the incredible fauna and flora of this sublime region and if you live an even more unforgettable experience do not hesitate to pay a visit in the early morning or at dusk to enjoy the flamboyant sunset. Udawalawe National Park - Sri Lanka

Adam's Peak

This mountain is famous for its pilgrimages. Indeed, for thousands of years, pilgrims have climbed its 2,200-metre slope during the night. Adam, Buddha and Shiva would have left their mark.

Although the climb is exhausting, you can watch the sun rise and take a few breaks in the numerous tea houses that dot the course.

Anuradhapura

This city of 7.179 km² was the capital of the country and the seat of the Sinhala power for about 15 centuries, and it is felt widely when one visits its walls. Buddhism is omnipresent in this sublime city, so be sure to take knowledge of the rules of local behaviour before visiting the many temples. This ancient marvel is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and contains treasures such as the tree Bô under which the Buddha would have reached Awakening.

The must: visit this place by bike, walking between the monasteries and the great dagobas.

Anuradhapura - Sri Lanka

Sigirîya and the rock of the lion

This former royal capital of Sri Lanka is one of the most important archaeological sites in the country and is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nothing but the gardens are worth the detour as they are beautiful and lush. You can climb to the top of the famous lion's rock, the ascent begins between its two legs.
At the top you will find magnificent ruins, but, above all, an incredible panoramic view of the surroundings.

Anecdote: Did you hear about the Sigirîya guards? When you visit this beautiful city, you can see on the terrace of the West face, brown spots glued to the wall. These are swarms of giant hornets, which have been there for years. Sometimes the hornets attack the visitors so stay away but there is the presence of metal grid, to avoid any accident. The government has tried repeatedly to dislodge the insects in vain, since the legend tells that they are the guardians of the city.

Polonnaruwa

This city has a precious treasure that it is wise to visit. In fact, you will find in Polonnaruwa a gigantic archaeological site inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage.
Do not forget to visit the famous Gal Vihara, an impressive set of ruins with its incredible carved Buddhas, it is really something!
