The beaches

As it borders the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans, South Africa is renowned for its incredible variety of beaches. The most famous of all, Camps Bay which is very near to the city center of Cape Town is a great viewpoint of the 12 Apostles mountains. It is also ideal for children due to the wide range of activities, from surfing to bodyboarding not to mention the delicious restaurants on the beach front where the seafood is to die for. Boulders beach in Cape Peninsula, is another one of South Africa’s main attractions, due to the colony of penguins that live on it. These penguins first arrived in False Bay in 1983 and have not moved since, a definite must-see!

The wildlife

South Africa is renowned for its incredible wildlife, whether that is marine or on earth wildlife. Kruger National Park, which is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa as it occupies 20 000 metre squared of land, provides the perfect opportunity to perceive the Big Five ( a term created by African Hunters which refers to the 5 most dangerous and difficult animals to hunt). These include rhinoceroses leopards, lions, african elephants and Cape buffalos. The safari tours which are proposed by Kruger National Park are either private or communal, to suit everyone's needs.

The gastronomy

With an influence from the Dutch, British, French, Malaysians, Indians and indigenous populations, South African gastronomy promises to excite the palate.  A must-try during your South African stay is the Asian inspired Bobotie, which is the national dish. The latter consists of mince meat boiled with various herbs, dried fruits and spices, then covered with a mixture of milk and egg. South Africa is also renowned for its fine vineyards such as the ones situated in Cape Winelands, the biggest wine-producing area in South Africa, a rival for France! The adrenaline rush activities

As well as the usual type of activities one would expect in a coastal country, such as surfing, scuba-diving or cycling, South Africa also offers a range of incredible activities which are definitely worth a try. On a family holiday, why not try some paragliding over Cape Town with your children, or ome horse-riding in Drakensberg? For the more adventurous ones, there are incredible walks to the top of Table Mountain as well as the highest bungee jumping spot which is 216 metres high, over the Bloukran river. Finally, there is also the opportunity to go swimming with sharks, a terrifying but rewarding experience.
